António Silveira Gomes, Portugal. (b.1971). South Africa. Studied Graphic Design (1991-92) at Johannesburg University (f. Witwatersrand Technikon). Finished studying in Lisbon (1997) at the Fine Arts University (FBA-UL) co-founded studio barbara says… (c.1997). Ph.D. (2017) in Contemporary Art (Design Studies) at Coimbra University, is currently a guest lecturer at ESAD.CR. Awarded with a certificate of Typographic Excellence in 2010 and member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). In working closely with cultural national and international institutions, artists, publishers, and social development projects; António has extended his professional and academic practice, as curator and research author, focussing on broad areas such as art/design history, material culture, design pedagogy, editorial design and network cultures.

His research interests lie in participatory design, design pedagogies, archival practices, material culture, editorial design, digital technologies, public space, network cultures, commoning in design, and critical maker culture.
