João Pupo is a filmmaker, photographer, and professor at ESAD.CR. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema (Directing and Cinematography) from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School (ESTC), a Master’s degree in Applied Communication, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Media and Society. At ESAD, he was awarded the Specialist Title in Audiovisual and Media Production.

His artistic practice centers on cinema and photography, featuring a body of authorial work exhibited and recognized both nationally and internationally. Combining artistic creation, teaching, and critical reflection on the image, his research explores cinema as a space for generating meaning and interpreting the contemporary experience.
