Doctorate in Multimedia Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain, and Specialist in Audio Description at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas) in Brazil.

Adjunct professor at the School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic of Leiria, in the areas of Accessible Communication, Digital Technologies for Communication and Education, and Research Methodologies.

Carla Freire coordinated the Master’s in Accessible Communication from 2014 to 2022 and has been working and researching in the area of accessibility and inclusion, particularly in the field of vision.

She is a founding member of the International Conference for Inclusion – INCLUDiT, which has been taking place since 2013, as well as organizing several initiatives to raise awareness about inclusion.
