Célia Ferreira has been a lecturer at ESAD.CR since 1998/1999, she holds a Ph.D. in Visual Arts and Intermedia from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2016), a Master’s degree in Art History from the Lusíada University (2000) and a degree in Communication Sciences from the New University of Lisbon (1992).
Her research interests lie in the area of visual communication: photographic documents, images, and aesthetics of everyday life, dissemination and political dimension of ‘images’, and the relationship between documents and artistic expression.
In academic research she did her master’s thesis on the photographic work of Fernando Lemos and the relationship between expression and document, in her doctoral thesis she investigated the use of archive photographic images by artists relating the space of appearance and artistic practice.
In the current academic year (2022-2023) she teaches the disciplines of Introduction to Project Thinking, Media Theory, and Art and Art Object, in the undergraduate courses of Graphic Design and Multimedia and Fine Arts.
She has been supervising MA students in the areas of Graphic Design and Fine Arts.
She is a member of the Pedagogic Council and the General Council of the Polytechnic of Leiria.
