Jubilee Coordinating Professor of the Polytechnic of Leiria. Historian.Author of studies on the history of 20th-century Portugal, with particular emphasis on the transformations of contemporary society, within the framework of the problem of transitions. Holder of the UNESCO Chair in “Management of Culture Arts, Cities, and Creativity” awarded to the IPL/Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha and member of the coordinating committee of the Research Laboratory of Design and Arts. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Fine Arts. He belonged to the first Installation Commission of ESAD and was the coordinator of the courses of Cultural Programming and Cultural Management in this school. He was President of the Guimarães City Foundation, responsible for the 2012 European Capital of Culture program, of which he was also a programmer. He was an advisor and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic Jorge Sampaio.
