Pedro Fonseca Jorge (1977) has a Degree in Architecture (2001), a Master’s in Methodologies for Intervention in Architectural Heritage (2006), and a Ph.D. with a European Mention in Design of Housing Space and Ways of Living (2012), all by the “Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto”. He has also a Master’s Degree in Product Design (2017) and in Visual Arts (2021), both from the “School of Fine Arts and Design (ESAD.CR) of the Polytechnic of Leiria”.

He was an Assistant Monitor at the “Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto” (2000-2001) and Assistant Professor at the “ESG, Gallaecia Higher School” (2012-2014) and at the “ARCA-EUAC, University School of Arts of Coimbra” (2015-2016). He is since 2021 an Adjunct Guest Professor at the “School of Fine Arts and Design (ESAD.CR)”.

He investigated at the “Habitar” research group, at “ETSAV-Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès”, in Barcelona, Spain (2011), and in the “Centre for Social Studies” at the University of Coimbra (2014-2015). Since 2021 he is an assistant researcher at “LiDA – Research Laboratory in Design and Arts”, under the project “Forest4future”.

Author of peer-reviewed articles, a presenter at several conferences, and a reviewer of scientific articles, within his diverse research interests, such as Popular Architecture, Minimal Dwelling, Nomadic Furniture and Artistic Expression in the Household. He has also published some of his architectural projects in books and websites.

 Finalist in awards dedicated to Visual Arts (“Prémio Árvore das Virtudes”, 2021) and winner of the “Best Scientific Article” prize (International Conference for Academic Disciplines, 2010), and also a finalist in several entrepreneurship awards, winning the 9th edition of “Arrisca C” (2018) with the Móvel2 project of nomadic furniture (which have its designs registered). Winner of the 6th edition of the “Villa Portela” award (2022, dedicated to research work on the heritage of the district of Leiria and municipality of Porto de Mós), with his master’s dissertation in Architectural Heritage “The rural house in Alcobaça in 1961”.

His artwork “Os Afetodomésticos”, from his Fine Arts Master, was exhibited individually in 2022 at the “Museu Joaquim Correia” (Marinha Grande) and at the “Galeria do Espaço Turismo” (Caldas da Rainha).
