ecoecoloRute Carreira was born in Leiria in 1992.

Interested in product development, she graduated in Industrial Design at the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha and completed, in the same institution, her master’s degree in Product Design.

During this stage of her academic path, she had the opportunity to conciliate her master’s degree with a research scholarship in the HomeGreens project: Home Aquaponics: Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture Systems (IMTA)”, developed at the Research Laboratory in Design and Arts (LIDA), ESAD.CR. This consisted in the development of domestic aquaponic systems with a pedagogical component, allowing her to relate the activity of product design to contents from the areas of biology and education, supported by principles involving sustainability.

Later she worked again as a research scholarship holder in the project Limo do Cais – Exploring the endogenous resources of São Martinho Porto, which consisted in developing a product from two macroalgae: Gelidium Corneum and Asparaopsis Armata.

Currently, she is also linked to LIDA as a research fellow in the Knowledge circle project.
