Raw Materials Circularity is a project integrated in the agenda, Ecocerâmica e Cristalaria de Portugal (ECP), an initiative focused in improving the ceramics and glassware industries towards a more sustainable production with the purpose of strengthen the competitive nature of these industries at national and international level.

This project aims to promote the transition of a linear economy to a circular economy, using strategies such as Eco design, the extension of a product’s life cycle and industrial symbioses.

The legacy of the project is to focus on creating new resources, or secondary raw materials, in order to use already existing materials and products, by playing a crucial role in giving them a new life cycle. This shift towards a circular economy is crucial for reducing the consumption of natural resources and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Therefore, it’s necessary to develop new ceramic and glass products that incorporate these new resources, with the intention of emphasizing new potential technical and aesthetic effects through new design methodologies.
