In 2020, School of Arts and Design (Caldas da Rainha) launched the Master’s in Design for Health and Well-being. The only master’s programme in Portugal in the field of product design, solutions, platforms, applications and services in the area of health and well-being. This is an emerging area of specialisation with its own specificities that requires processes, methodologies and tools appropriate to this field.
The 1st edition of the Design Research Forum was held in 2021. The aim of this event is to establish contact between students on the Master’s programme in Design for Health and Wellbeing and the community of researchers and teachers in the field of design and health, thus obtaining a first informal validation of their projects.
Over the course of three editions, external guests included Ana Raposo from ESAD Matosinhos, Susana Barreto from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto, Sara Gancho from IADE-EU (Lisbon), Rute Gomes from the Faculty of Architecture in Lisbon, Cláudia Lima from the Lusófona University in Porto and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto, Tiago Assis from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto, Hande Globe from IADE-EU (Lisbon) and Hernani Oliveira from the University of Évora.
As internal guests from LIDA na ESAD.CR: Renato Bispo (Director of the LIDA Research Unit), João Santos (Director of ESAD.CR) and Luísa Barreto, João Maio Pinto, Joana Morais and Aprígio Morgado.
The organisers and moderators of the Forum Design Research event are Cláudia Pernencar, Elga Ferreira and Eliana Santiago from LIDA and ESAD.CR.
