The Odonata series (the order of insects to which dragonflies and damselflies belong) is being developed for this first phase of the project. The presence of Odonata indicates the good quality of aquatic environments, allows the control of populations of smaller insects and contributes to the feeding of birds during the breeding season. In this way, the project combines sculpture, contemporary art, entomology and ecology in what is intended to be a holistic look at the landscape as an expanded theme.
Exuviae (exoskeletons resulting from ecdysis between the nymphal and adult stages) and adult corpses are collected during walks around watercourses, ponds, lagoons and dams. These specimens are identified and referenced in relation to the habitats in which they were found, allowing their geographical distribution to be mapped.
Each sculpture begins with the scanning of a sample. At this initial moment, the program makes a subjective reading that introduces corrections, simplifications and omissions of certain details, resulting in a three-dimensional model that proposes a technological interpretation. This substitution of authorial subjectivity in the interpretation of each natural sample incorporates procedural chance that allows sculptural solutions to be found that annul the simple reproduction of the matrix and introduce an abstract character into the final result.

The project aims to understand how 3D printing with various materials, finishes and scales can result in three-dimensional pieces that can be incorporated into the arts ecosystem through their articulation with other artistic objects and inclusion in individual and collective exhibitions.
